The local government tourism conference presents a platform for councillors and council staff to meet, listen to experts and peers, and find out how other councils are engaging and managing their tourism industry.
The 2008 Conference
Over 200 participants took part in the fourth Annual Local Government Tourism Conference in Lismore. Over thirty industry experts and practitioners presented to the conference on the central theme of 'Partnerships in Tourism'. Participants included councillors, tourism professionals and economic development managers along with representatives of industry, government and research institutions. This highly successful Conference was partnered by Tourism New South Wales and hosted by a partnership comprising of Lismore City Council, Richmond Valley Council, Kyogle Council and Southern Cross University.
Partnerships, Infrastructure and Community Engagement Keys to Successful Tourism The reintroduction of regional rail services, a standard model for councils to use, and engaging communities are ways to increase the benefits of tourism, say NSW councils. |
