2005 Water Management Conference
The 2005 Water Management Conference, hosted by Narrabri Shire Council, was held Wednesday 31 August to Friday 2 September at Narrabri's Crossing Theatre.
The conference attracted over 150 delegates, including elected council officials, managers of water authorities, council staff and industry representatives.
The 2005 Conference Program (271KB) explored
- Implementation process of the NSW Water Management Act 2000
- The roll out of the National Water Initiative and the Australian Water Fund
- Implications of new water pricing structures
- Emerging issues related to water recycling and water leakages
Highlights included key note addresses by Ken Matthews, Chief Executive Officer of the National Water Commission, and the Hon John Anderson MP, Federal Member for Gwydir. The Water Directorate's Water Managers' Forum was once again a success and was rated highly by attendees, as were the three workshops on the future of council owned water utilities.
Delegates attending the Water Management Conference dinner helped to raise $1288 for Water Aid Australia. With thanks to the generosity of LGSA Business Solutions, winners received vouchers to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge with BridgeClimb.
