Description:

This document contains an independant evaluation of the USSA program conducted in July 2011. It is based upon survey responses received 105 NSW Councils and a focus group session held with Local Government employees.

The findings reveal that a lot has been acheived by the project but that there is still a need for ongoing sustainability support to be provided to Local Government.

Intensive workshops were delivered in 2007 and were purpose built for council/consortia of councils who were successful in meeting the requirements of an EOI. Description:

The Manly Sustainability Strategy: For Today and Future Generations uses the Melbourne Principles as a 'roadmap' to guide Council, citizens and stakeholders toward a shared vision and presents the community with a series of concrete actions. Council staff, with input from members of the Manly Sustainability Strategy Management Group and Manly's Scientific Advisory Panel, restructured the Manly Sustainability Strategy in 2006 so that it better brings together the needs of Manly's people and our environment.

Manly Council is a partner in the Urban Sustainability Support Alliance and has contributed this resource to encourage others to learn from Manly Council's sustainability strategy which is a constantly evolving framework.

Description:

 The Institute for Sustainable Futures assisted Woollahra Council in the process of developing a Sustainability Plan, by helping to elicit community visions and issues. Community consultation methods used included a face-to-face survey and a series of workshops. ISF also facilitated a number of workshops for staff and a Councillor workshop. This report outlines the approach used and key findings of this community engagement process.
