LGSA Tourism Conference 2006

Destination NSW - sustaining local government tourism
Panthers World of Entertainment, Penrith
29 - 31 March 2006

Tourism today is an important council activity, no matter what the size, population or location of your council and requires sustainable management.

Following the great success of the inaugural conference in Forbes last year, the LGSA is holding its second tourism conference in Penrith at the Penrith Panthers World of Entertainment, in partnership with Tourism New South Wales and hosted by Penrith City Council.

The conference will present a platform for councillors and council staff to meet, listen to experts and peers, and find out how other councils are engaging and managing their tourism industry.

Entitled "Destination NSW: sustaining local government tourism", the conference will outline future directions from state government and tourism operators' perspectives, look at economic development and sustainability, encompass event management and community development as well as tourism planning and impacts.

Speakers and industry leaders will be providing vision, raising issues and offering solutions. The format will be interactive so that councils can participate, providing case studies and examples of best (and worst) practice.

Who Should Attend

Anyone working in local government whose role involves: economic development, tourism planning and operation, marketing management, special events, media, corporate services, town planning and cultural services, transport and utilities and education.
