2011 Awards Presentation
Awards will be presented to winning councils at a presentation ceremony and seminar to be held on the morning of Tuesday 29 November 2011 at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), Circular Quay, Sydney.
The MCA is an internationally renowned contemporary art museum at a stunning location with spectacular views over Sydney Harbour to the Opera House. Street level access is located at 140 George Street, The Rocks. Visitors with restricted mobility can enjoy all public areas of the MCA, including function areas.
The LGSA is commited to environmental sustainability at our conferences and events (you can view our policy by clicking here). For this event, the LGSA together with the MCA will ensure that the venue:
- Is energy efficient - the venue utilises a sea water exchange plant which can reduce power usage by up to 30%
- Is in walking distance to efficient transport options
- Favours natural ventilation over air conditioning wherever possible and practicable
- Utilises natural lighting (from the sun) during the day where possible
- Offers washable, reusable glasses and water jugs with drinking water from tap/town water rather than bottled water
- Provides reusable, washable crockery and cutlery or where this is not possible, items made with biodegradable materials
- Provides receptacles at various locations at the venue with clear signage to facilitate the separate collection of paper and containers (glass, aluminium and plastic) for recycling
- Catering is sourced locally, where possible and all unused food is offered to local charities within the Food Standards best practice, through OzHarvest.
Further environmental sustainability initiatives will also be implemented as part of this event. For more information please contact Robert Verhey, Strategy Manager - Environment on 9242 4080 or at robert.verhey@lgsa.org.au
